One of a Kind Show Application FAQ

How  can I participate in the One of a Kind Show?
The One of a Kind is a juried show and all applications are first reviewed by a  jury before they are accepted. Our 2011 application form can be  downloaded and printed here.

I  see that the application deadline has past. Is it too late to apply?

No, it's not too late for you to apply. All applications are reviewed and  considered, even those received after the deadline. We suggest that all artists  submit their applications as soon as possible, as our shows do sell-out, but it  is never too late to apply.

How  much space is available?

Previous regular One of a Kind artist's are first given a chance to re-sign  before new applications are considered; however because One of a Kind Vancouver  is in it's third year, we expect that 25% will be new artists for this year show.

As  a new applicant, do I have a chance of getting in?

Yes, we're always eager to feature the work of new artists. Our jury looks for  a number of key components, such as skill and innovation, quality photos and  professional booth design. Please remember, the care you show in your photos is  a reflection of the care you take in your work. Quality craftsmanship should be  evident in everything you submit.

What  is the New Artisan Travel Scholarship?

Established in 1993, this scholarship was designed to assist out-of-province  artists by awarding them a $500 cash grant to offset their travel, shipping and  accommodation expenses during the show. All first time participants residing  out of British Columbia are eligible to apply.

Does  the One of a Kind Show offer discounts for new artists?

Our New Artisan Scholarship is open to all first time participants that have  been working at their art or craft for less than 3 years. Recipients of this  scholarship will have their booth fee reduced by $500. Alternately, first time  participants with less than 3 years professional experience can apply as a  Rising Star. Space for this open space area is sold by the square foot with a  minimum rental of 9 square feet. (3x3) At only $45 a square foot, it's a  fantastic starting point.

Can  I apply for the New Artisan Scholarship Fund, the Travel Scholarship and Rising  Stars?

Yes, but if accepted, it will only be for one of the three.

What  are the One of a Kind neighbourhoods?

Our unique neighbourhoods allow your customer to easily target the products  they would like to purchase:

  1. Flavours for food
  2. Fashion District for clothing designers
  3. Green  for eco-friendly products

Other than the booth fee, what additional costs are associated with exhibiting at the One of a Kind Show?
Artists must provide their own lighting, flooring and booth display.

I'm interested in applying to the Toronto Show and the Vancouver Show. Can I submit 1 application for both Shows?
The application for each show is different. Please visit the Toronto site www.oneofakindshow.com to download an application for that show. You will need to submit the packages  separately as the shows are managed out of 2 different offices.
